For the last year her health has gradually declined, until death claimed its victim. She passed away with a bright evidence to rest forever with Him who had been so precious to her during her decline in life. During a few of the last weeks of her suffering her patience and cheerful resignation to the will of God was an example long to be remembered and cherished by those who waited on her. The remains were laid to rest in the Long Lake cemetery. The funerals services were conducted at the home of the deceased by Rev. Jonathan Hodgens from Long Lake. Text was: Job 14th chapter, 14th verse, "If a man die shall he live again." It will be remembered by some of the friends that last Nov. 9th was the 50th anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Duryea's marriage when the relatives and children met to enjoy the last anniversary with her on earth.Grand Traverse Herald, June 19, 1890 |
