Overlijdensbericht | John William Jr., age 78, of Houston, Texas died Thursday, February 27, 2014. Born and raised in Paterson he lived in Midland Park before moving to Texas 3 years ago. John was an Army veteran who served from 1954 – 1957. Before his retirement he was a Systems Analyst for AXA Equitable, New York City. He was a parishioner of Church of the Nativity, Midland Park and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are his children, Barbara Leeps of Albuquerque, NM, Patricia Jimenez of Hewitt, NJ, Carol Marcotte of Pompton Lakes, NJ, John S. Van Blarcom of Houston, TX and Christine Simmers of Houston, TX. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren, Robert Nowell of Virginia, Shannon, Melissa, Michael, Mary, Justin Leeps of NM, Tala Van Blarcom of CO and one great-grandson, Liam Mason Gracheck of NM and his brother, James Van Blarcom of Clifton, NJ. He was predeceased by his wife Letizia (nee Russo) Van Blarcom in 2004. Visiting Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral Mass Thursday 9:30 am at Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect St. Midland Park, NJ. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson, NJ.
