| Overlijdensbericht | Shirley VanBlargan Medford of Lakeland, FL, passed away Monday, October 31, 2011 from cancer at the Good Shepherd Hospice Forsythe Center in Auburndale. She was 73.
A native of Clearfield, PA, born April 12, 1938 to Harry and Effie Thurston Barrett, Shirley moved here 22 years ago from Niagara Falls, NY. She was a Registered Nurse, and was the Director of the ICU at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital. She also worked at Winter Haven Hospital after moving to Florida. Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winter Haven, and member and co-founder of Sisters and Brothers in Christ.
Her first husband Clifford P. VanBlargan, Sr., and her sons: Rodney Barrett and Clifford VanBlargan, Jr. pre-deceased her. She is survived by her loving husband John M. Medford of Lakeland, FL; her daughter Grace Ervin-Steenson (Samuel) of Davenport, FL; and her son Brian VanBlargan (Clara) of Lake Wales, FL. Shirley also has 3 brothers, 5 sisters, 9 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 AM Thursday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Funeral services will follow at 10 AM at the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Brothers & Sisters in Christ, or to Good Shepherd Hospice.Ledger, November 2, 2011 | |
