" I Peter Vanblaracom of the County of Scott in the State of Illinois do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say:
First I give and bequeth to my beloved wife Mary Vanblaracom in lieu of her dower the west half of the North East quarter of Section 25 in Township 15 North of range 16 West containing 80 acres during her natural life and the choice of either of two mares now the property of myself. I also wish her, and will her, one years provisions out of this year's crops and all the household furniture during her natural life. And at the death of my said wife the landed property above described bequethed to her as aforesaid to go to, and be equally divided between, my three sons Samuel Vanblaracom, Thomas Vanblaracom and Peter Vanblaracom Jr. and to their heirs and assignees forever.
Third, I give and bequeth to my said wife the East half of the North West quarter of Section 25 in Township 15 North of range 16 West containing 80 acres and at the death of my said wife the last described 80 acres to go to and be equally divided between my four girls Mary Aldridge, Sarah Carter, Margaret Aldridge and Hannah Vanblaracom and to their heirs and assignees forever.
Fourth I also give and devise to my second (eldest is crossed out and second written above) son John Vanblaracom one hundred dollars to be paid to him one year after from date of this my will.
Fifth I give and devise to my daughter Hannah Vanblaracom my horse called Nell and to her heirs and assignees forever.
Sixth I give and devise to my youngest son Peter Vanblaracom my horse called Fox and to his heirs and assignees forever.
Seventh It is my request and desire that so many cows, hogs and stock now belonging to me and on the place may be retained for the use of the family as in the opinion of my administrator may seem necessary and the balance to be sold and the proceeds apportioned to the use of my wife Mary. It is also my will that so many of the farming utensils as my administrator thinks necessary for the use of farm be retained and the balance to be sold.
And lastly I hereby constitute and appoint my son Thomas Vanblaracom to be the Executor for this my last will and testament revoking and annulling all former wills by me made and ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.
In testimony where of I have personally set my hand and seal this twentieth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight."

I do solemnly swear that this writing contains the true last will and testament of the within named Peter Vanblaracom deceased so far as I know or believe and that I will well and truly execute the same by paying first the debts and the bequests mentioned therein as far as his goods and chattels will thereunto extend and the law charge me ansd that I will make a true and perfect inventory of all sucj goods and chattels debtsd and credits as may come to my hand or knowledge belonging to the estate of the said deceased and render a just account of my executorship when thereunto required by law to the best of my knowledge and ability so help me God.
