| Overlijdensbericht | Mrs. Taisie Hughes, 73, of Grammer, died at 7:30 o'clock this morning at St. Vincent's hospital in Indianapolis. The widow of Delmar R. Hughes, she had been hospitalized two days. Funeral rites will be conducted at 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Reed funeral home by Dr. William R. Laws. Burial will be at Garland Brook. Casket will be open after 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Grammer Presbyterian church and Order of Eastern Star. She was born at Burnsville Oct. 1, 1888, the daughter of the late George and Tina Utter Van Blaricum. On June 1, 1908, she was married to Delmar R. Hughes, who died July 31. 1955. She and her husband had operated a grocery store in Grammer for several years. Survivors include two sons, William and Marvin Hughes; both of Grammer; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph Hargitt of Indianapolis, Mrs. Earl Johnson of Grammer and Mrs. Pauline Perkins of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Marine Pvt. 1-c William W. Latta of Camp Pendleton, Calif, Mrs. Shirley Sweet of Columbus, and Miss Joyce Ann Hughes of Kentucky, and a great-grandchild, Marjorie Ann 5weet.The Evening Republican, September 4, 1962 |

Overlijdensbericht | Delmar R. Hughes, 69, husband of Mrs. Taisie Hughes, died at 4:55 o'clock Sunday morning at his home in Grammer. He had been ill six weeks. Mr. Hughes operated a grocery store in Grammer. He is survived by two sons, Marvin and William of Grammer; three daughters, Mrs. Lois Latta and Mrs. Marjorie Zill of Indianapolis and Mrs. George Perkins of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Cooper of Edinburg; two half-sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith of Indianapolis: and Mrs. Lewis Pritchard of Morristown; and four grandchildren. A son died in 1923. Mr. Hughes was born in Rock Creek township and lived all his life around the Burnsville and Grammer communities. He had resided in Grammer since 1917. He married Taisie Van Blaricum in 1909. He was a member of the GrammerPresbyterian church, the Alert Masonic lodge, and the Red Men lodge. Funeral services will be conducted at the Grammer Presbyterian church at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. William R. Laws. Burial win be made at Garland Brook cemetery. Masonic graveside services will be held. The casket is at the residence at Grammer. Flanigan and Reed funeral home is in charge of arrangements.The Evening Republican, August 1, 1955 |
