Overlijdensbericht | John P. Horky, of Menomonie, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009. He was born on Jan, 6, 1919, to Andrew and Anna Krisak Horky. John farmed the Horky family farm north of Boyceville his entire life. On Oct. 17, 1942, Shirley Fay Van Blaricom and John began their 54 year marriage. She preceded him in death on March 31, 1996. John was active in many dairy and farming organizations and traveled often in carrying out his work and interests. He was an active participant in Dunn County and statewide politics and was well-read on subjects related to his love of farming, his interest in the political process and in history. He also worked for the Soo Line Railroad on the bridges and buildings crew and, after retiring, at the Boyceville Recycling Center. John is survived by his children, Barbara Kuhn, Oshkosh, Anita (Loren) Schreader, White Bear Lake, Minn., Abigail Simone Joyce Larson, Colorado Springs, Colo., Connie (Lowell) Nelson, Reeve, Gary (Jody) Horky, Reeve, Debra (David) Hill, St. Croix Falls, Dale (Karetta) Horky, Boyceville, Joel (Roxanne) Horky, Connorsville, and special friend, Shirley Bloom and her family. John was Grandpa to Greydon (Jacquelyn) Kuhn, Oshkosh, Monique (Steven) Mueller, Oshkosh, Jeremy Kuhn, Oshkosh, Jennifer (Troy) Duncan, Roseville, Minn., Meredith (Adam) Rambow, St. Paul, Minn., Robert Larson, Finlayson, Minn., Aaron (Andrea) Larson, Fort Collins, Colo., Nicole (Todd) Merkle, Detroit, Mich., Tamara Harvanko, Minneapolis, Minn., Trevor (Deborah) Dunn, Hudson, Justin Horky, Eau Claire, Zachary Horky, Reeve. Jason (Heather) Hill, St. Croix Falls, Rachelle Hill (Andrew Schmidt), Minneapolis, Benjamin Hill, Minneapolis, Joshua (Whitney) Horky, Duluth, Minn., Tiffany Horky, Neenah, Jessica (Justin) Allram, Star Prairie, Jacob (Kristin) Horky, Plymouth, Minn., and Lida Horky, Madison. He is survived by great-grandchildren Ryan Dunn, Killian Dunn, Elliot Harvanko, Izak Harvanko, Christopher Curtis, Jamie Curtis, Megan (Shannon) Peerenboom, Mackenzie Kuhn, Lauren Duncan and Zachary Duncan, Allison Larson, Violet Hill, and Gavin Allram.
Surviving great-great-grandchildren are Hailey Peerenboom and Kaleb Peerenboom. He is further survived by sisters, Sophie Olson, Menomonie, and Ella Schryver, Boyceville; sisters-in-law, Rose Zak, Phoenix, Ariz., Marjorie (Van Blaricom) Knack, Green Bay, Erma Van Blaricom, Amery, and Edith Van Blaricom, Prairie Farm; as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were a grandson, Derrick Horky; a great-grandson, Richard Larson; and 10 brothers and sisters. Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Glenwood City. Funeral services were at Trinity Lutheran Church, Highway 79, Boyceville, at 11 a.m. on Friday. Aug. 14, 2009, with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions preferred to the Breast Cancer Three Day Walk, Connorsville Methodist Church, or the charity of one's choice.Dunn County News, August 13, 2009 |
