Overlijdensbericht | Mrs. Taylor Veal, widow of the late Taylor Veal of this place, died Monday at the home of her son, Andrew Veal in Elysian. The funeral was held from the U. B. church in this city Wednesday afternoon with Rev. S. B. Andrus officiating and the interment was made in Sakatah cemetery. Rebecca Veal was born in Ohio March 3, 1832 and moved with her parents to Indiana where she grew to womanhood and was married to Mr. Veal. They came to Minnesota and located at Waterville in the spring of 1861 and lived on the old homestead just north of town until Mr. Veal's death which occurred eight years ago. Since that time she has made her home with the children. Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Veal, eight of whom are living. They are Andrew of Elysian, Mrs. Mary E. Chambers and Mrs. Minerva Miller of Waterville, Mrs. Martha James of Merrifield, Minn., Mrs. Ellen Soules of Morristown, Mrs. Laura Squier of Bellevue, Ky., Sam of Larchwood, Mont., and Mrs. Florence Gennow of Hilliard, Wash. Only Andrew, Mary, Minerva and Ellen were able to get her for the funeral. In her early years she became a member of the U. B. church to which she belonged to her death but could not attend on account of the distance. Her last words were 'I wish I could attend the House of Prayer". Mrs. Veal was 81 years old and was a woman greatly loved by all who knew her during her long life in this vicinity. The Sentinel extends sympathy to the relatives. Waterville Sentinel, May 2, 1913 |
