ObituaryHugh M. Thomason, Jr., passed away peacefully on January 15, 2015 at his home in San Diego, California after a long battle of lung cancer.
He was born May 27, 1931 in Charlotte, NC, to the only son of the late Lois Keaton Thomason and Hugh M. Thomason, Sr.
Hugh proudly served his country in the US Navy joining in 1948 and retiring in 1978 as a BMCM Petty Officer. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars. Where he served distinction earning several medals in citation. He served on several ships including the Curtis the USS Ticonderoga retiring at the US Naval Station, North Island, San Diego. Hugh served 17 ½ years as a volunteer at the LaJolla Veterans hospital in San Diego. He was a tentured life member of the Fleet Reserve Association where he held varies officer positions including FRA National Chaplin and participated in numerous events over the years.
In addition to his parents his is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma June Thomason.
A service military honors will be held 1-4pm Friday, January 23, 2015 at Fleet Reserve Association Branch 289, 659 Silver Strand Blvd., Imperial Beach, California. Cremation by North County Cremation with a memorial service with military honors and entombment at Oconee Memorial Park 2 pm, Saturday, March 28, 2015.
