ObituaryLENA VAN BLARICOM January 28, 1911 - February 19, 2000 Peacefully on February 19, 2000, Lena passed away at the Selkirk General Hospital.
She was predeceased by her husband, Burton and daughter Audrey Stewart. Lena leaves to mourn, her daughter Rita Milne (George) Brandon; son Boyd Van Blaricom (Elizabeth) East Selkirk; grandchildren, Jim Green (Laurie), Brad Green (Susan), Chris and Susan Milne, Rachel and Matthew Van Blaricom; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Mitchell, Aaron and Leah Green.
Lena was born to Maria and John Haydey in Bokovenna, Romania. She came to Canada in 1914. Lena was married and raised her family in Selkirk, Man. Throughout her life she contributed to many community activities. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a dear friend to all who knew her. She will be sadly missed. Special thanks to the staff at the Selkirk General Hospital and to Dr. Antonenke for their care and support of Mom.
Pallbearers will be Jim and Brad Green, Chris Milne, Dr. Rick Haydey, Terry Bruneau and Don Seal. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack McNeill and Gerry Hallworth. Prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, at Gilbarts Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, Man. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 341 Eveline St., Selkirk, Man., with John Hagerwaard officiating. Interment will follow in St. Clements Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Selkirk General Hospital Box 5000, Selkirk, Man., R1A 2M2, or the Knox Presbyterian Memorial Fund at 341 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB, R1A 1N1.
