Obituary | Diana Morash Rose, age 74, passed away on July 21, 2015 in Colorado Springs. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Diana was born on December 31, 1940 in Montreal, Canada to the late Ellery and Phyllis (Morash) VanBlarcom. She spent her life helping others as a nurse in Montreal, Los Angeles, and Fort Carson. Diana raised three sons on her own following the death of her husband in Vietnam in 1971. She loved adventure, including 4 wheeling as a member of the Pass Patrol 4WD Club. She loved to travel and visit the Southwest, ghost towns and other historic sights. The family spent summer vacations taking cross country road trips from Colorado to Montreal and Nova Scotia to visit her family. She enjoyed skiing and figure skating. She is survived by her sons, James (Patti) Rose of Calhan; Guy Rose of Colorado Springs; and Leo Rose of Colorado Springs; her spouse, Freeman Simmons of Colorado Springs; and brother, William (Louise Dandurand) VanBlarcom of Montreal, Quebec. She is also survived by her granddaughters Meghan Rose of Colorado Springs; and Kelli (Josh) Saye of Colorado Springs. She was also blessed with a new great granddaughter, Sawyer, just days before her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Leo J. Rose.The Gazette, July 26, 2015 |
