ObituaryRaymond H. "Ray" Van Blargan, 96, of Whippany passed away at his niece's home in Bay Head on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014.
Born and raised in Newark, Ray had lived in Whippany since 1952. He served his country in the United States 110th Army Air Force during WWII. Ray was an Art Director with Continental Can Company in New York City. He retired in 1983. Ray was a longtime parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy. A member of the National Model Railroad Association, Ray loved model trains and enjoyed working with his extensive collection.
Ray was the beloved husband of the late Catherine. He is also survived by his beloved niece, Mary and her husband Ken; his dear sister-in-law, Isabel Rich; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Whippany Rd in Whippany on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd, Whippany at 10 a.m. prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ray's memory may be made to either Our Lady of Mercy Church or the Whippany Railway Museum, P.O. Box 16, Whippany, NJ 08981-0016.
