| Obituary | LINCOLN - Emma Jane Thompson passed away Dec. 25, 2016 at her home. She was born Aug. 13, 1933, the daughter of the late Frank S. and Tawilla A. Rittenhouse VanBlargan. Emma Jane attended Gratz High School in Philadelphia, Pa. She worked for the Philadelphia Inquirer, Burpee Seed Co., and Cochrane Corp., all in Philadelphia, Pa. Emma Jane moved to Delaware in 1960 after marrying Arthur L. Thompson. She worked at Delaware Trust Company, Wilmington in the early 1960's. She was a homemaker and also served with her husband for ten years in home missions, serving with Christian Literature Crusade and Bethel Ministries. She was devoted to The Mailbox Bible Club for a number of years and had a puppet ministry. Her travels with her husband took her to the 48 contiguous states and all the Canadian provinces. She was an avid reader, enjoyed putting puzzles together, and loved the Lord. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur in 2015; and five brothers, Donald, Walter, Clyde, Howard, and Willard VanBlargan. She is survived by two children and their spouses, Wendy (Wayne) O'Connell, of Lincoln, and Lee (Michele) Thompson, of Laurel; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson; a brother, Frank VanBlargan; and a sister, Arlene VanBlargan. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016 at 12 noon at the Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 W. Market Street, Greenwood, DE 19950, where friends may call one hour before services. Interment service will be held at St. Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood. Obituary | LINCOLN - Arthur L. Thompson went home to be with his Lord on Mar. 26, 2015. Born on Jul. 3, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of William B Sr. and Estella (Hoffman) Thompson. He attended Olney High School in Philadelphia. Art was in the U.S. Army Transportation Corp from 1955 to 1957. He received his Honorable Discharge in 1963 after completing a reserve obligation. He married Emma Jane VanBlargan in 1960. He and his wife both grew up in Philadelphia. They were both members of the same church, Messiah Lutheran. They moved to Delaware in 1960. Art worked thirty years in transportation, seven years as a driver and twenty three years in training and supervision. He was employed as Instructor/Dept Ch. At Delaware Technical & Community College where he taught Truck Driver Training. In 1973 he received the Delaware Motor Transport Association Citation for Meritorious Service Award. In addition to is career in transportation both he and his wife, Emma Jane, were in full time Christian service for ten years. They were in home missions with C.L.C, International and had their own ministry, Bethel Ministries, and supported Mailbox Bible Club. He was also a member of The Fellowship of Christian Magicians for many years. He and his wife loved traveling. They traveled through the contiguous 48 states, Alaska and all the Canadian provinces. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; William Jr. and Wesley Thompson. Art is survived by his wife of 55 years, Emma Jane; two children and their spouses Wendy and Wayne O"Connell of Lincoln and Lee and Michele Thompson of Laurel; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Mon., Mar. 30, 2015 at Atlanta Road Alliance Church, 22625 Atlanta Road, Seaford, DE 19973.
