Obituary | Billy F. VanBlaricum Funeral for Billy F. VanBlaricum, 69, of North Vernon was conducted Sunday at Dove-Sharp and Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, with the Rev. Boyde Nelson officiating. Bonita Welch was organist. A Masonic memorial service was conducted Saturday by members of North Vernon Masonic Lodge, with Harry Goss acting as worshipful master. Burial was at Vernon Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bernie Bobbitt, Russell Clendenning, Edward Coad, Bob Day, Louis Lawrence, Jack Modlin and Keith Stearns. Mr. VanBlaricum died Thursday, Sept. 7, 1995, at Jennings Community Hospital emergency room. |

Obituary | Betty M. VanBlaricum, 88, of North Vernon passed away at 10:22 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at her residence. Born October 30, 1927 in Anderson; Mrs. VanBlaricum was the daughter of Delray and Georgia Modlin. She married Billy F. VanBlaricum on November 23, 1946 at the Tea Creek Baptist Church in Jennings County; he preceded her in death on September 7, 1995. Mrs. VanBlaricum worked as the Executive Secretary at the former Regal Rugs before retiring, she had owned and operated Green Leaf Restaurant in North Vernon and was a secretary for the Department of Correction at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. and Camp Atterbury in Columbus. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in North Vernon. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, spending time with family and traveling. Survivors include daughter, Judi Wiley of North Vernon; brother, Jack Modlin of North Vernon; sister, Saundra Bobbitt of Valdosta, Georgia; grandchildren, Tiffany Houser of Scipio and Jennifer Wiley of Dallas, Texas; great-grandchildren, Bailey Haile of Nashville, Tennessee and Ally Houser of Scipio; several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sisters, Rosemary Schrider and Georgina Modlin. A funeral service for Mrs. VanBlaricum will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
