| Obituary | Private funeral services to celebrate the life of Mildred W. Van Blaricom, 94, of Davenport were held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Van Blaricom died on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the home of her daughter, Karla, with whom she resided.Mildred Willadeen Hayden was born on February 4, 1923 in Davenport, Iowa. She married Robert D. Van Blaricom on August 7, 1940 in Unionville, MO. He preceded her in death in March of 1993. After moving back to Davenport from Centerville, IA in 1951, she began work at Burke Cleaners retiring in 2011 at the age of 88 after 60 years of service.Mildred loved to camp, was an avid cook and hosted dinners for her family most every Sunday. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Growing up very poor, she made sure her family always had clothing, food, and plenty of love. She devoted her entire adult life to providing for them.Surviving members of the family include – a Daughter: Karla (Mike) Fraser of Davenport; 2 Sons: Gary (Karen) Van Blaricom of Eldridge, IA and Barry (Debra) Van Blaricom of Davenport; 6 Grandchildren: Phillip, Bradley, Lori, Amy, Cheryl, and Michael; and 14 Great-grandchildren.Those preceding her in death include – her parents, her husband, a daughter Sharon in infancy, and a sister Phoema.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. |
