| | Obituary | Darrell J. Van Blaricum, 32, of Noble was killed instantly and three other men were injured in a terrific head-on collusion between two trucks on U. S. Route 50 about two miles west of Olney last Wednesday evening.
Van Blaricum, driving an oil truck for the Reliable Oil Company of Clay City, by whom he was employed, swerved across the center line of the highway and crashed into a large semi-trailer transport truck. Both trucks were virtually demolished.
Van Blaricum is survived by hie wife, M June, of Noble; one son, Norman age 11; his mother, Mrs. Ray Gregory of Olney; his father, William Van Blaricum of Urbana; one brother, Neil Van Blaricum of San Antonio, TX; and two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Brown of Carmi and Mrs. June Allison of Powell, Wyoming. He was a veteran of World War II, serving five months in the Army.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Schaub Funeral Home with Rev. James Kirby of Noble in charge and burial was in Greenhill cemetery, south of Noble.Olney Advocate, December 30, 1948 |

| Obituary | Eva June Benson, 74, Olney, IL, died November 6, 1990 at Olney Care Center, Olney.
Mrs. Benson was born June 5, 1916 in Decker Township, Richland County, the daughter of Edgar Martin and Sally Montgomery Martin. She married Darrell J. VanBlaricum and he was killed December 22, 1948. She later married Gilbert Benson in December, 1950 and he died November 11, 1980.
She was a housewife and a member of the Christian church of Noble and also a member of the Noble American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving is a son, Norman D. VanBlaricum; two stepsons, Jim and Ken Benson; one daughter, Sheryl A. Klingler; four brothers, Harold E., Donald, Robert, and Marion Martin; three sisters, Helen Hough, Dorothy Redmon, and Nova Shafer; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two husbands and a sister, Cleo Jones.
Funeral services were held in the Chapel of the Zirkle Funeral Home with burial in Green Hill Cemetery. |
