Obituary | Ruth Van Blaricom, 87, of Muskogee died on Sunday, June 24, 2007 in Tulsa. Ruth was born to Amsy and Zora (Martin) Bush on Dec. 18, 1919 in Bartlesville. She was raised in the Blackwell and Tonkawa areas, and later moved to the Muskogee area where she has lived for more than 30 years. She married Delbert Van Blaricom on Dec. 1, 1936 in Bartlesville. She was a member of the Boulevard Christian Church in Muskogee. Ruth worked in the cafeteria at Sadler Junior High School in Muskogee for several years, and she also worked at First Baptist Church where she served food. She was preceded in death by: her parents Amsy and Zora Bush; her husband Delbert Van Blaricom, who died in 1989; three brothers Clyde, Bud and George; three sisters Lula, Bessie and Claudie. She is survived by: her three sons Don Van Blaricom of Blackwell, DeWayne Van Blaricom and wife Shirley of Muskogee, and Leon Van Blaricom and wife Dru of Waxahachie, Texas; two daughters, Janet Leak and husband Lester of Wagoner, and Beverly Simmons of Blackwell; 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; along with a host of other relatives, friends, and Eastgate Village family. Services were at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at the Boulevard Christian Church in Muskogee with the Rev. Steve Moss officiating. Interment was at 4 p.m. at the Blackwell Cemetery in Blackwell. Grandsons served as pallbearers, including Justin Simmons, Shane Graves, Clint Leak, Christopher Baker, Garth Baker and Don Smith. Services and arrangements were under the direction of Shipman's Muskogee Cremation & Funeral Service, Muskogee. |
