Obituary | Mrs. Mary Frances Rozella Burke, 59, Crothersville route 2, died at 5:50 p.m. Thursday at Bartholomew county hospital following a long illness. She had been in ill health most of her life, in serious condition one year and had been in the hospital three weeks. Mrs. Burke was born Oct. 21, 1908, in Grammer, the daughter of Alonzo and Ella Frye VanBlaricum, and had lived in the local area until moving to Crothersville six years ago. In 1927 she was married to Carl Burke, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Billie Burk of Indianapolis; two brothers, Ernest and Leslie VanBlaricum of Indianapolis; four sisters, Mrs. Daisy McMahan of Indianapolis, Mrs. Ruth Neal of 1202 Parkway drive, Mrs. Medora Knotts of 2201 East Fifth street, Mrs. Thelma Vavro of 737 Reed street; five grandchildren, 14 greatgrandchildren, a niece and a nephew. A son and daughter preceded her in death. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist church. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Earl Beaty at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Reed funeral home where persons may call after noon Sunday. Burial will be at Garland Brook cemetery.The Republic, January 26, 1968 |
